How To Hold the Crochet Yarn
To ensure a smooth crochet, we usually control the tension of the yarn on our dominant hand, and we've collected the three dominant ways of holding the yarn, so choose the one you're comfortable with.
Three popular ways to control the yarn
Pinkie-wrap Method
- Wrap the yarn around your pinky finger and pull it out upward.
- Pull it up between the index and middle fingers.
- The thumb and middle finger can pinch the yarn to control the tension.
- The back looks like this.
Index-finger Wrapping Method
- Take the yarn and pull it up between your pinky and ring finger.
- Extend it to the index finger and wrap it around
- The thumb and middle finger can pinch the yarn to control the tension.
